Job Description

We are seeking and Operations Manager to join our client's team. The Operations Manager must have previous experience in the Freight Forwarding Industry. 

Key responsibilities and accountabilities:

  • Plan, organize and manage the operational team to ensure that the work is accomplished in a manner consistent with company goals and directives
  • Communicates needs of operation to the Terminal manager to ensure service directives of Standard Forwarding customers are met
  • Serves as operational contact for all terminal personnel
  • Handles all operational and terminal discipline, first point of contact, progressive discipline and labor relations
  • Responsible for management of supervision and execution of the outbound dock operation and driver fleet, including dock, driver and clerk personnel
  • Collaborate with subordinate supervisors in order to implement policies, procedures, goals and objectives as communicated by Terminal Manager
  • Ensure freight flow processes and procedures are in place to provide Standard Forwarding service excellence  
  • Perform duties in accordance with the Standard Forwarding Standards of Business Conduct
  • Evaluate alternatives and utilize discretion to make independent decisions regarding operation
  • Key performance indicators and prioritized topics to be communicated daily to Supervisors include bill count,  load quality, load factor, bill control procedures, misroutes, reweighs, on time performance and maintaining a safe work environment at all times
  • Ability to coach, mentor and train supervisors to improve work performance and self esteem
  • Ability to recognize, reward and reinforce good performance
  • Responsible for proper communication with all departments of Standard Forwarding to ensure customers needs are met
  • Provide updates to Terminal Manager including but not limited to: personnel needs, bid adjustments, equipment repair and maintenance, supply needs, disciplinary follow through and progressive discipline visibility.
  • Required to observe and comply with all federal, state, and local laws and/or Standard Forwarding including company policy concerning safety, claims prevention, and hours of service

Job Requirements: 

  • Must have 5+ years experience as a Operations Manager for a Freight Forwarder
  • Must be able to effectively lead a team 
  • Must be an effective communicator
