Job Description

We are seeking a Customs Brokerage Manager to join our client's team.  his individual will spend the majority of his or her time coaching, planning, leading, and directing the performance of the team’s entry writers. The Customs Brokerage Manager will be a liaison with customers, branch leadership, Corporate Customs compliance, and the corporate legal team as required. 

Responsibilities:

  • Promote a culture and working environment that embraces growth and development to meet the needs of our employees and customers, resulting in higher employee engagement and overall customer satisfaction
  • Identify development opportunities, provide constructive feedback, offer continuous training opportunities for direct line reports
  • Play major role in recruitment, onboarding, and continuous development of best in class Customs brokerage talent
  • Provide individualized coaching plans for direct reports and host semi-annual Talent (performance) reviews
  • Set the example for others to follow regarding knowledge and application of U.S. Customs brokerage
  • Educate employees to have deeper discussions with clients regarding CBP priority trade issues and other current events impacting the trade community
  • Exercise responsible supervision and control of the Customs business conducted by the Miami branch

Customer Service and Interaction

  • Provide guidance to brokerage employees on how to respond to challenging customer scenarios and complex government inquiries
  • Lead HTS Determination and Reviews as required by customers, working to sell Trade Policy Consulting services where applicable
  • Uphold our customer SLA (service level agreements) to provide brokerage clients with the utmost satisfaction
  • Serve as a role model in developing relationships with brokerage clients, origin counterparts, and destination partners critical to the success of our clients’ transportation and supply chain systems

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree (preferred)
  • Active Customs Broker License (required)
  • Become and/or maintain Certified Customs Specialist status with the NCBFAA within one year of employment (required)
  • 5+ years of recent Customs brokerage experience in order to demonstrate firm understanding of all functions related to importing into the US via air, ocean, rail, and truck; domestic delivery; and regulatory compliance, and new partner government agency regulations (required)
  • 3+ years of management experience working in this industry
